Why saves matter more than likes, and how to earn more of them
By Maya

A like takes half a second and is forgotten by lunchtime. A save is a small promise. Someone looked at your post and thought, I’ll need that later. The platforms notice, and so should you. Saves are one of the strongest signals you can send that a post is worth showing to more people, and they are far easier to earn than most brands assume.
Why the algorithm cares
Every platform is trying to work out which posts people value, not just the ones that make them pause. A save says the content has a use beyond the moment. That is why a modest carousel with a hundred saves will often travel further than a flashy video with a thousand likes. Think of saves as the review score and likes as the applause.
Posts that get saved
The pattern is reassuringly simple. People save things they want to act on later:
Checklists and step-by-step guides.
Recipes, routines and “what to pack” style lists.
Price guides, opening hours and maps.
Before-and-afters with the method spelled out.
Anything with a date on it, from events to deadlines.
Make saving the obvious move
Say it. “Save this for your next trip” works because it tells people what the post is for. Keep the useful bit on the first slide and the detail on later slides, so the save earns its keep. Then check your insights weekly and look at saves per reach rather than the raw number. That ratio tells you which formats to repeat.
